A Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) is a program to teach high school students Leadership, Americanism, Patriotism and the American Free Enterprise system, the basic fundamentals of citizenship.

The YLC program of the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) began in the early 1980's patterned after the Freedom Foundation program at Valley Forge, PA.  The YLC program is a local program for local high school students

The 2017 Annual Southwest Youth Leadership Conferences of Region VIII, Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW), and affiliated organizations, funded by the Texas Patriotic Education Foundation, Inc. (TX PEF, Inc.), are held each summer.  The conferences provided excellent speakers, workshops and was a memorable experience for high school students.

Participants are high school leaders entering their senior or junior years and selected by sponsoring Chapters of the Military Order of the World Wars or by other sponsoring organizations.

Over 350 students are selected to attend these conferences, with awards presented to the Outstanding Student at each conference location.
